TRAVEL || Getting a FREE pizza at Dave & Buster’s AND a host of others!

Hello Royalty.

It’s that time of the week – it is the weekend!

I know I have not put up travel posts in a while and I apologise for that. However, what I have done is to combine all of the pending posts into one. Don’t worry! It’s not gonna be long…I’ll try to make it as short and as interesting as I can. Just so you know, this post is filled with a lot of food talk.

Dave & Buster’s

Going to Dave and Buster’s, in Downtown Silver Spring, Maryland, with my friends, was one of my most amazing experiences. I remember we had a nice time playing games like Speed of Light, this karaoke dance thing, basketball game (in which I had 4 goals out of 13 – epic fail, I know), but the striking thing about my Dave and Buster’s experience was the FREE MEAL!

L-R: Alexandra, Sarah, Bukunmi

This is how it happened. We got to the place and ordered for pizza (after going back and forth with choosing a meal) and then we waited for our order…and we waited, and waited, and waited, and…soon, the manager (I think) came around to confirm that we had actually been waiting for our order. He left and still, we waited and waited, and finally, the pizza came. Truth be told, it was not it! We were pretty pissed off, it wasn’t as it looked on the menu. It was made with tortillas – super flat and sour. Somewhere halfway through the pizza, all four of us trying to force it down our throats, the waiter came and we asked if there was anything we could do if we didn’t like the meal…and that was where the surprise came in! He said it was free….my!

We were overjoyed…it turned out that the waste of time had automatically granted us a free meal.

Tip: Next time you find yourself in Dave & Buster’s, tell them it’s okay for your order to be delayed (at least till the manager comes around)

Nando’s Peri-Peri

Talk about an awesome evening this day. I was not even expecting myself to turn up at Nando’s on this particular day, but so it happened. I had this really nice Portuguese Rice and Wings Peri-Peri. I don’t have too much to say about Nando’s except that I loved every bit of my time there. After eating, I remember putting on my Snapchat that “Good food is definitely therapeutic”. Yes it is! (And sadly, I lost all my pictures from that day…)

Rattlesnake Pasta

It was my nephew’s second birthday and this is where I had Rattlesnake Pasta for the first time. When I read the menu at first, the name caught my attention and the contents of the food seemed like a good one altogether. It had tri-bell peppers, ginger, garlic, rotisserie chicken and some other stuff. Now what I didn’t expect was the size of the food – it was so much. I mean it was the kind of restaurant food that gives you a run for your money. And when I tasted it? Yum! I ate to my fill, requested for take away plates and packed the rest (yes, I did).

Sorry about the blurry arm

Abu Dhabi International Airport

I’m going to chip in a part of my experience here because I really felt pleased by it. While at the airport on my way to Nigeria, I had a seven- hour layover at Abu Dhabi. At some point, I decided to continue this book I was previously reading – The Remarkable Women of the Bible (I’ll be talking about it next Wednesday!) – and then, I was on a page where there were a lot of Bible citations and all of that. So I brought out my Bible to actually read the cited verses for myself. That went on for quite a while, and soon I noticed the person next to me as he slowly brought out his iPad, after looking at me for a while, and opened the Bible app. I wasn’t quite sure what part of it he was reading (I mean, I didn’t want to stare), but I saw “KJV”. I felt a calm all over me. It’s possible he had intended to read his Bible before then..or not, but I was happy to see him do that…and I was even more happy because he was quite elderly (maybe in his 50s). And right there, I remembered a quote I saw almost every time at some point in my life, “Preach the gospel everywhere you go, use words only when necessary”.

Dear Royalty, that’s it for today. I hope I kept to my promise of being as precise as possible. See you on Monday — I have something really nice to share about our faith!

Goodbye Royalty,

With Overflowing Love,
