Hello Royalty!
Initially, I had planned to post a short fictional story for today’s post, but I discovered something this week that made me think really deeply about how intercession works for believers, and I realized that sharing this with you will come in handy. I’ve been reading Kenneth E. Hagin’s The Art of Intercession (highly recommended).
In Chapter 11 titled “Knowing God’s Love,” Hagin talks about his brother, Dub. For 15 years, he had been praying for God to save his brother. One day, 15 years later, he came across new light from 2 Corinthians 4:3-4 which says,
(3) But if our gospel be hid, it is hid to them that are lost:
(4) In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them.
2 CORINTHIANS 4:3-4 KJV
For the first time, he realized that everything God needed to do to ensure salvation had already been done. According to what the Spirit of God told him, he wrote, “the blood has already been shed. The Gospel has already being given. The light is already here. It can’t shine in because of what the devil has done. What you’ve got to do is break that power over them.”
Reading this, I realized that we should not be praying for God to “save” souls. He already did. We need to pray for souls to come to a realization of that salvation. And as I was meditating on this yesterday morning, I was reminded of 1 Peter 2:9-10. It says,
(9) But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, Godʼs special possession, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light.
(10) Once you were not a people, but now you are the people of God; once you had not received mercy, but now you have received mercy.

See that? Even as believers, this is the connection. We have already been chosen, saved, delivered, and set apart. But we had to be called out of darkness into light. Now, when Hagin got this revelation from scriptures, he prayed according to what he already understood and “within three weeks, [his] brother was born again.” He went on to say, “Here’s where intercession comes in – we are to loose the sinner from the blindness that [he/she] may see the light. If we can get people to see God as He really is, they’ll want to love Him. We are one with the great intercessor in His ministry of reconciliation.”
