How Doing Nothing Makes You Right With Christ…

Hello Royalty.

Happy New Month!

“God saved you by his grace when you believed. And you can’t take credit for this; it is a gift from God. Salvation is not a reward for the good things we have done, so none of us can boast about it.”

Everything that we are and all that we can do, as a part of the fellowship of the unashamed of the one whose name is Christ, is only because God has made a way for us. My Bible tells me that we have no input whatsoever in the grace that we enjoy today. This goes to say that what we do outwardly is not what qualifies us for a life with and a relationship with Christ, but what he actually did inside of us.
Talking about grace and righteousness, the Bible says in Ephesians 2: 8-9, as quoted above, that we cannot take credit for the GIFT of salvation that we have received – we cannot boast that Christ has saved us because we give alms to the poor, or because you helped a friend in need, or because you visited the sick, because you fought for your country in the war front or even because you have never stolen another man’s dime. Yes maybe all of those things are good, actually they are great; however none of those things merit us for a relationship with God.
Follow me closely – in Romans 4:4-5, the Bible was talking about the Faith of Abraham. Something profound was recorded in those verses of Scripture, it says,

“When people work, their wages are not a gift but something they have earned. But people are counted as righteous, not because of their work, but because of their faith in God who forgives sinners.”

In verse 13, it further says, “Clearly, God’s promise to give the whole earth to Abraham and his descendants was based not on his obedience to God’s law, but on a right relationship with God that comes by faith.” Back up to the first verse quoted above, “God saved you by his grace WHEN YOU BELIEVED.”

Hence it is your belief in Christ that makes you right with God. We cannot ‘woo’ God or ‘win him over’ by our actions. He already loved us before the foundations of the earth were formed, so our actions really do not make him love us, neither do they grant us access to a relationship with him – our belief in his work is what does that.
So you might say, “Oh yeah so I can act as I wish to?”

Err…not exactly!

As a student, I have an ID card that makes others know that I am a student of the school. Now my ID card is not my studentship yeah? But my ID card is a proof of my studentship. So you have been made right with God by your faith in Him yeah? But your actions are a proof of that righteousness. In essence, your actions as a believer do not justify you or make you fit for a relationship with Christ, rather your actions reflect the already established work of Jesus Christ in you!
So you might say, “But sometimes I do the wrong things…”
No need to rant about it…maybe we all do. However, the Bible in Philippians 2:13 says,

“For God is working in you, giving you the desire and the power to do what pleases him.”

There you have it! Right inside of you is the ongoing, forever ongoing work of Christ to help you please him.
In this month of May, please realize over and again that God moves mountains, causes walls to fall and there is nothing, absolutely nothing impossible for Him to do, including your desire to please him and walk in righteousness. All you need do is believe and submit to His leading.

Have a most exciting month of May!

P.S: All verses of Scripture are in NLT Version
